Chiropractic is a 5-year university degree specialising in diagnosing and treating musculoskeletal disorders and injuries with particular emphasis on the spine. Adjustment is the hallmark of chiropractic and is commonly known as “cracking,” a specific technique used to restore proper movement and function and reduce pain in the facet joints of the spine. The spinal joints (where two vertebrae join) are treatment-specific, meaning they respond best to direct treatment such as adjustments/manipulation, muscle work, or massage can’t effectively treat the spinal joints as they are very deep structures within the spine and are non-muscular structures, people who get massage or muscle work in isolation may get relief, but the results plateau reasonably quickly as the chronic joint pain, dysfunction, and stiffness hasn’t been resolved.
